Scope of Job:
We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's diverse student body as a tenured/tenure-track position (open rank) in the area of quantitative methods for the Department of Psychological Science beginning in the 2023-24 academic year. We are seeking candidates with expertise in quantitative methods and a PhD in psychology. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in structural equation modeling, longitudinal data analysis, and/or hierarchical analysis methods. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of research, seek extramural research funding, teach advanced quantitative research courses at the graduate level, contribute to the department's undergraduate program, mentor graduate students in experimental psychology and serve as a core member in the Ph.D. program in clinical psychology. The successful candidate will also serve as a quantitative consultant to faculty and students in the department.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Assistant Professor: Applicants must have an earned doctorate in psychology from an accredited university. ABDs will be considered but applicant must have an earned doctorate in psychology by August 31, 2023. Applicants must present evidence of active research that includes publications in peer-reviewed journals ,must present evidence of expertise in quantitative methods; ability to serve as a quantitative consultant to faculty and students; and potential to effectively teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, potential to supervise and mentor clinical and research activities of students, potential to maintain active programmatic research, and potential to obtain external grant funding.
Candidates for a tenured appointment must be tenured at their current institution. To be eligible for the rank of Associate or Full Professor in the program candidates must meet the institutional requirements for tenure.
- Associate Professor: Beyond the above requirements, requirements include a demonstrated ability to independently conduct programmatic research activities that meet the departmental and institutional requirements for the rank of associate professor; and (2) a high degree of teaching proficiency and commitment to professional service.
- Professor: Beyond the above requirements, requirements include scholarly professional experience demonstrated through an exemplary record of publications in peer-reviewed journals, external funding, and a distinguished record of accomplishments that have led to a national reputation in the applicant’s area of expertise. Applicant’s professional activities should meet the departmental and institutional requirements for the rank of professor.

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications:
A PhD in psychology from an accredited university.

Preferred Qualification:
Experience teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Experience supervising graduate level research. Experience obtaining grant funding. Experience in structural equation modeling, longitudinal data analysis, and/or hierarchical analysis methods.

Additional Information:
UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days inlength.
