Neurotrauma POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

center for Shock Trauma and Anesthesiology research (STAR)

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND

Position Description:
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Drs. Alan Faden/Bogdan Stoica, Department of Anesthesiology & the STAR Organized Research Center. Our research focuses on the pathobiological mechanisms and treatment of experimental traumatic brain injury (TBI). Projects include: (1) elucidating molecular mechanisms responsible for posttraumatic neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration; (2) examining the role and mechanisms of epigenetic regulation of neuroinflammation. (3) Investigating the role of central and systemic extracellular vesicles (EVs) in secondary injury. (4) Characterizing the role of bidirectional brain-system interactions in the pathobiology of chronic neurodegeneration after brain injury. Multidisciplinary approaches include molecular and cellular biology, neurobehavioral evaluation, quantitative histology and neuropharmacology. In addition, there is increasing utilization of single-cell transcriptomics and epigenetics, as well as advanced machine learning applications.
