Scope of Job:
To directly oversee the department specific day-to-day human resources functions and business contract administration. To provide leadership and complex technical skills in the development, completion and execution of Athletic business contracts and various standard contract projects in accordance with university policies and procedures, and rules and regulations.

Description of Duties:
  • Responsible for coordinating and developing department-related contracts from solicitations to ensure that the scope of work is in accordance to the stated agreements/contracts and protects the interest of the department of intercollegiate athletics in line with institutional guidelines.
  • Acts as point of contact and manages the human resources functions to include recruiting and hiring processes for the department.
  • Ensures and coordinates all departmental onboarding training and processes for new hires.
  • Leads efforts to provide engagement and development opportunities for current staff in coordination with departmental leadership and works to implement programming that ensures the growth of departmental culture.
  • Reviews and maintains accurate records on all personnel-related functions for the department.
  • Coordinates Human Resources processes for the department, including the development and submission of Job Description Questionnaires, Job Audit Reports, Staff Equity Adjustments, and other related processes.
  • Oversees department-wide employment of student employees and ensures compliance with all institutional requirements.
  • Administers all competition and employment contracts for the department.
  • Conducts research on special projects for Vice President and Director of Athletics.
  • Works with administrative team on coordination of all relevant documentation and non-confidential record keeping.
  • Manages asset management functions for the department.
  • Oversees the payment and receipt process for game guarantees.
  • Prepares reports, projects and estimates as requested for special projects.
  • Oversees employee exit process for the department.
  • Coordinates performance evaluation processes for the department staff and coaches.
  • Assists in reconciling department accounts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Supervision Received:
General supervision from assigned supervisor.

Supervision Given:
Direct supervision of assigned staff.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

Preferred Education:
None.

Licenses/Certifications:
None.

Required Experience:
Three (3) years of job-related experience.

Preferred Experience:
Experience obtained in athletics business operations.

Equipment:
Use of standard office equipment.

Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work may be required. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
