Instructional Technologist

Job Summary

The primary function of the Instructional Technologist is to train and support Close School faculty and staff in the use of e-learning applications and emerging technologies.

He/She/They will be responsible for supporting staff and faculty in the delivery of online course content, using the University’s Learning Management System (LMS), designing, and developing online resources, creating and implementing instructional modules, as well as researching other technology-based tools.

Essential Functions
  • Assist faculty in the design, development, and support of online courses, and provide instructional design guidance to subject-matter experts in the creation of online course content. Support users in the use of the online course system (LMS), work collaboratively with other Close team members in the production of online courses and assets, and assist in the creation of innovative solutions for challenges faced by team and instructors
  • Assist faculty in the recording, editing, and publishing of course lectures and related media
  • Design, develop, and deliver faculty training and tutorials for both new and experienced instructors
  • Assist in the management of the Close School email inbox and help ticketing system, coordinating other departmental staff as appropriate to resolve issues and requests
  • Provide oversight of the quarterly course life cycle, including outreach to faculty, course setup, and appropriate follow up
  • Function as a departmental contact for ADA course accessibility accommodations
  • Develop methodologies and assessment techniques that address course and material usability and accessibility
  • Take ownership of special projects as assigned by supervisor, including the ongoing use and testing of technologies to support online academic integrity
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in instructional media, instructional technology, education, or a related field that contributes to the goals of the department
  • Minimum of three years of related working experience; preferably in an area of LMS support, multimedia, instructional design, or educational technology
  • Demonstrated ability to apply instructional design techniques and/or create and edit multimedia or interactive training materials using Camtasia, Photoshop or comparable tools
  • Effective organizational skills, including managing multiple priorities and functioning in a changing environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively on technical and non-technical issues, including in-person, email, and telephone support scenarios
  • Experience with supplemental technologies for online course delivery including webinar systems, screen capture software, etc
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in instructional media, instructional technology, user experience, education, or a related field that contributes to the goals of the department
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems, Blackboard preferred.
