Job Summary

Under the newly minted division of University Marketing & Communications, the Office of Marketing Communications creates proactive, innovative, and comprehensive marketing, communications and branding strategies that highlight Drexel’s academic strengths and research, while emphasizing the value and potential of the experiential education model. The Office of Marketing Communications works closely with colleges, schools, academic and administrative staff throughout the University to create comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that serve the University’s overarching branding, recruitment, and retention goals to meet or exceed the enrollment and revenue objectives. The Office of Marketing Communications defines, protects, and disseminates the Drexel University brand while clearly illustrating its unique value proposition.

The Associate Director, Media serves as a social media and paid media resource for the University, juggling organic social media management with the execution of paid marketing initiatives in conjunction with strategists and other personnel within the Division of University Marketing and Communications — connecting the dots between paid media, social media and all points in-between. The Associate Director is primarily responsible for executing a centralized University social media strategy that aligns with institutional priorities, including, but not limited to: enrollment; retention; lending visibility to Drexel’s cooperative education program and student experience; industry partnerships; alumni engagement; brand awareness (leveraging the Ambition Can’t Wait campaign); and excellent customer service.

The Associate Director will manage the day-to-day marketing and advertising functions carried out by the Office on behalf of clients across the University. In addition, the Associate Director serves in a support/guidance capacity to steward advertising strategies in support of enrollment and visibility goals, acts as the liaison between the University and external vendors and agency partners to execute marketing activities, manages multiple social media accounts on behalf of the university, oversees internal and external promotion of selected University events, and produces necessary reports for the Division of University Marketing and Communications. Potential opportunity to manage work-study, and co-op student employees. Occasional weekend and after-hours work are required as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Create content and effectively manage Drexel’s core Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn social media accounts, as well as accounts for Drexel Admissions and Student Life initiatives
  • Work closely with Media Relations and Publications personnel, as well as multiple offices within Enrollment Management & Student Success, Student Life, Alumni Relations, and other Offices to mine, refine, produce and disseminate engaging content for social channels
  • Maintain a comprehensive social media content calendar to keep track of upcoming important dates and events, content requests, monthly reports and social copy. Monitor channel-specific metrics in the form of a monthly report with the objective of showing improvements in organic reach and engagement
  • Use social media platforms to promote and cover events for various University entities
  • Help oversee the advertising services managed by the Office of Marketing Communications on behalf of Drexel clients, while also supporting strategists and other team personnel.
  • Coordinate media buys, including online, print, radio, outdoor and more through our preferred media buying agency
  • Determine performance goals and budget of marketing campaigns and provide final report of campaign performance
  • Plan and execute marketing strategies in support of information sessions, new programs, events, and other University initiatives
  • Help to manage University-wide social media Mangers working group — providing vision, professional development and thought leadership to peers from both academic and administrative units
  • Design marketing tests analyze campaign metric data, and present findings to inform and propose marketing recommendations. Ensure that proper review and testing procedures are executed
  • Develop and translate site architectures, wireframes, storyboards, and prototypes into appropriate copy and interactive experiences, such as websites, web applications, and mobile applications
  • Provide best practice process and production guidelines/support for Clients via online and offline efforts in order to set and maintain expectations
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience or Equivalent
  • 3 years of Experience
  • Experience with CRM Management and Content Management Systems
  • Experience managing institutional social media platforms and the requisite analytics suites
  • Familiarity with best practices in academic marketing and digital strategy
  • Strong time and project-management skills
  • Proficiency with all standard office productivity tools
  • Ability to master a variety of content- and project-management systems
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and client relation skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Skill with professional audio and video creation, animation, production, graphics, and multimedia software including Apple Final Cut, the full suite of Adobe Creative Suite products including Motion, After Effects a plus
