Job Description


The Analyst I, Student Services is responsible for collecting, compiling, analyzing and interpreting data from various platforms and making recommendations for procedural changes and process improvements based on desired outcomes in the areas of admissions, recruitment, retention, and others. Primary functions include reviewing and analyzing all reports and information for the Office of Student Services; identifying user trends and data needs; timely submission of reports to internal stakeholders, management, and external entities as required. Position will work closely with Director and AVC to ensure all college reporting and data guidelines and goals are met and maintained. Monitors and troubleshoots technical processes that run daily for the Student Services division.


  1. Analyzes quantitative and qualitative data from various platforms and sources to ensure report accuracy and data integrity
  2. Analyzes data and trends to support and inform decision-making on the department’s initiatives
  3. Evaluates effectiveness of reporting processes and makes recommendations for improvements
  4. Provides statistical analyses using various methods
  5. Supports the College’s enrollment management goals related to recruitment, enrollment, and retention, including enrolling a more diverse and inclusive student body
  6. Supports the maintenance of scheduled processes running in iStar related to the functions of the Office of Student Services
  7. Works quickly to identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues related to process failures or problems in iStar and with the ApplyTexas application
  8. Makes recommendations and executes process changes and improvements in iStar
  9. Conducts research and develops queries to support the goals and initiatives of the Office of Student Services
  10. Participates in user acceptance and go-live testing for PUM updates, PeopleTools upgrades and other system updates
  11. Assists leadership with recommendations for new and/or revised policies and procedures
  12. Identifies data integrity issues in iStar and with the ApplyTexas application and supports resolution
  13. Provides and facilitates staff training
  14. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

  • Knowledge of application, admissions and enrollment processes
  • Knowledge of current data analysis methodologies and tools
  • Proficiency with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions
  • Strong analytical skills: ability to collect, compile and analyze varied data sources with accuracy and integrity
  • Ability to interpret detailed information and convert to knowledge-based reports and recommendations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

    • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
    • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
    • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
    • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Hiring salary range is $46,300-$53,245

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
