We seek a colleague who wants to focus their career on rigorous and innovative teaching. The ideal candidate can teach broadly across our existing undergraduate curriculum, which includes developmental, family, and applied courses. We are also open to new courses and growing our online offerings. The promotion trajectory in this position emphasizes the scholarship of teaching, so the ideal candidate will actively engage in the scholarship of teaching through publications, presentations, invited talks, or other related activities. Furthermore, we seek a colleague who shares our commitment to antiracism and can help us sustain and grow a diverse, inclusive, equitable, and accessible scholarly community. Linguistic and cultural diversity competencies are highly desired.
We offer a collaborative and innovative department culture oriented to resiliency, thriving, innovation, and the long-term work of antiracism. Our talented, curious, and high-achieving student body is demographically “majority-minority,” and we strive to offer relevant, inclusive, and accessible programs. We have tremendous in-house and across-campus resources leveraged to promote rigorous, interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, and culturally relevant research, teaching, and outreach. Our faculty are committed to mentoring and fostering success for the upcoming generation of professionals.
Responsibilities include teaching six courses per academic year (3/3), primarily at the undergraduate level, although graduate opportunities may arise. Course development and academic advising may substitute some of the course teaching load. This position may assist the Undergraduate Adviser with recruitment activities. Engaging in the scholarship of teaching, and disseminating that knowledge, is an expected part of the promotion pathway. This is an onsite, on campus position (not remote).
Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies or a related field and demonstrated excellence in college or university-level teaching with diverse students. Candidates must have the ability and interest to assist with online curricular development and engage in the scholarship of teaching through publications, presentations, invited talks, or other related activities.
