  • Experience in internal and external organizational development and communication initiatives
  • Understanding of adult learning theory, design, and delivery
  • Ability to introduce creative and innovative ideas and gather diverse insights to produce engaging development and communications initiatives.
  • Ability to create needs assessments and develop learning and development opportunities using adult learning principles and instructional design best practices.
  • Ability to formulate training objectives and evaluate training effectiveness
  • Experience in creating content for various types of training (e.g., participant materials, videos, practical exercises, interactive eLearning)
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to design and present information clearly, concisely, and creatively.
  • Strong presentation skills and experience with applying instructional design best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in driving internal marketing and branding projects.
  • Strong skills in web design and content creation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in an educational design-related field (instructional design, educational technology, adult education, learning and development, curriculum development, etc.), communications (marketing, media/journalism, social communication) field, and/or an equivalent combination of experience or education.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Suite (e.g., InDesign, Photoshop, Sign).
  • Experience with SCORM content and course authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline 360, Camtasia, Adobe Captivate).
  • Experience with video content creation and editing.
  • Experience with learning management systems, video creation tools, and/or other communications and development platforms (e.g., SF Learning, Vyond, Canvas, etc.).
  • Proficiency in web analytics and survey software.
  • Experience with coordinating social media.
  • Knowledge of web and/or digital content management software.
  • Knowledge of project management principles.
Job Description

Reporting to the Manager of Organizational Development and Communications, this position is responsible for identifying learning needs and creating effective training and development opportunities for staff employees, launching innovative learning solutions that inform and engage diverse audiences, and cultivating Texas State University’s HR brand through marketing and communications initiatives.

Job Duties

  1. Build, test, and deliver high-quality interactive training and eLearning courses by applying adult learning principles and systematic instructional design
  2. Serve as LMS secondary administrator and technical expert/support for LMS and assist with content migration
  3. Oversee staff educational support programs
  4. Identify, develop, and collaborate on current and new training and development initiatives
  5. Solicit feedback on learning and development courses and make recommendations based on analytics for improvement of the quality, consistency, delivery mechanisms, and overall effectiveness of the efforts.
  6. Deliver consultation and coaching sessions to employees and/or teams upon request.
  7. Review, edit and approve accessibility standards on all eLearning courses and HR communications in compliance with copyright and any other applicable laws and regulations.
  8. Provide expert-level communications support by developing communications plans and creating content on multiple platforms
  9. Identify key audiences and guide the design, layout, and content of targeted messages through print and digital publications.
  10. Research and identify new marketing and communications opportunities and lead associated projects with guidance from the manager.
  11. Collaborate in the creation, design, and maintenance of the HR website and monitor audience engagement.
  12. Actively seek opportunities to collaborate and cultivate relationships across campuses to understand and address communicational and development needs.
  13. Perform other related duties as assigned.
