Position Summary

The Associate Vice President and Chief Institutional Research and Data Officer is responsible for leading the Office of Institutional Research ( OIR ). OIR is responsible for the collection, organization, maintenance, and analysis of institutional and other data to support institutional management, operations, decision-making, and planning functions. The Associate Vice President is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the office by managing a professional staff of approximately 18 full-time, part-time, and student workers. The Associate Vice President will work with a wide range of constituencies, including the president, vice presidents, deans, and other senior administration, faculty of the University, committees of the University Council, and the top leadership of the University System of Georgia. While this position reports to the vice president for information technology, it carries out these responsibilities and relationships with minimal day-to-day supervision.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

Minimum of two years of experience with databases, statistical software, and other high-level computer skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

The ideal candidate will have a background in enterprise systems for students, personnel, and finance. Knowledge of issues and current trends in higher education is desirable.

Provides information of a general nature about the University and its environment through the publication of various documents such as the Fact Book and the Department Profiles. Ensures all state (including University System) and federal reports are submitted in a timely fashion by establishing and maintaining a reports management system.

Organizes and provides data to appropriate administrative and academic units by conducting extensive surveys, compiling and organizing data, and reporting the results. Provides senior administration with appropriate information by participating in national studies such as those organized by the University System of Georgia and the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources.

Ensures that internal and external requests for support in completing surveys/questionnaires are completed in a timely manner by managing a suspense system of critical dates relative to the surveys/questionnaires.
