Job Description:

Position Summary

The Project Manager for the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP at Columbus State) position provides project design and management to identify potential partners within the manufacturing sector and works with clients to ensure satisfactory and efficient progression of projects in accordance with the client's needs and both Ohio MEP (ODOD) and College (CSCC) standards. This role engages with the project team to ensure projects are functioning and aligned to achieve approved and expected outcomes outlined within the individual projects. The incumbent actively participates as part of the project team to create deliverables and complete project tasks as needed. Travel throughout the MEP's 12 county region is required. Additionally, the Project Manager will spend time within manufacturing environments. Members of the MEP team are responsible for obtaining predetermined metrics, including assisting MEP clients in obtaining new sales.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Project Management

Coordinates, collaborates, and provides oversite to partner service providers engaged in direct service as an extension of the MEP at Columbus State. May include weekly status updates to both internal and external stake holders. Works with project team to implement decisions that will improve results. Engages with stakeholders at all levels to ensure that projects are progressing appropriately and makes adjustments based on stakeholder feedback. Ensures customer compliance with end of program elevation surveys.

Assists the sales team in the development of client proposals (SOW) and accurate budgets. Manages projects' schedule, scope and budget

Relationship Management

Conducts meetings with clients and assists project team to facilitate concurrence regarding due dates, quality standards, and client satisfaction. Engages in follow-up conversations with clients to gather feedback and determine adjustments to operations improvement process. Utilizes best practice retention strategies for ensuring the ongoing involvement of clients. Identifies potential business operations improvement partners. Consults with clients throughout the operations improvement process to assess satisfaction, provide support, and build rapport.

Training & Development

Utilizes technical expertise to organize and lead industry-relevant webinars and training sessions. Organizes and conducts manufacturing-related technical trainings and webinars designed to educate and improve performance. Analyzes and forecasts clients' quarterly performances. Implement decisions based on results. Participates in professional development activities, in-campus meetings, and serves on committees, as required.

Marketing & Communication

Collaborates with marketing team to develop educational and sales materials that are industry-relevant. Utilizes technical knowledge to assist in the development of promotional and outreach materials, including print, digital, web, and social media. Incorporates client feedback into marketing strategy. Leverages technical knowledge to build and implement educational resources that will grow manufacturing business in Ohio. Delivers high-impact educational and sales presentations to potential clients.

Reporting

Maintain accurate CRM (Salesforce) entries, monitoring/reporting on project budgets, and time and effort tracker. (Clockify)

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Attends all required department meetings and training. Works outside of normal schedule, as needed, to meet workload demands. Identifies best practices from peer institutions and communities of interest that support the overall project scope and quality, as needed.

Usual Physical Requirements

The employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer, frequently sits for extended periods of time, and regularly stands and walks to provide functional coordination for a few work units. Employee occasionally reaches with hands or arms and stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Employee converses verbally with others in person and by telephone. Vision demands include close, detailed vision when focusing on computer screen. Employee occasionally lifts or exerts force up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions

Typical office environment. Regular exposure to moderate noise typical to manufacturing environments. Must travel to various Columbus State campuses and manufacturing client sites.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: Policies and procedures of Ohio Development Services Agency, NIST MEP, and CSCC; project management principles; continuous improvement and operational excellence methods; basic manufacturing technologies; computers, software, including cloud applications, to include Salesforce, Microsoft Office applications (Work, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Planner). Skill in: developing and maintaining good relationships; effective communication; problem solving; customer service; customer retention strategies; project management, operating general office equipment; general typing; application of job related software programs. Ability to: adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment, involving multiple partners; plan, execute and close assigned projects according to strategic alignment and prioritization; manage triple constraint; serve as official MEP representative; work independently demonstrating initiative; coordinate multiple activities and tasks; maintain confidential and sensitive information; work effectively with persons of varying cultures and backgrounds; develop, implement and deliver effective assessment programs; coordinate and monitor resource allocations including assignments of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan; coordinate multiple concurrent activities and task; exhibit flexibility in work schedule and job tasks; develop and maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, external and complete work records; organizing and problem solving.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Social Science, Higher Education, Business Systems, Information Technology, Statistics, Research or a closely related field of study. Three (3) years of professional experience in a related field. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
