The University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez is currently searching for applicants to teach finance (corporate finance, investments, fintech, rick and insurance). 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

The successful candidate must: 

  • Possess one of the following options: 
    • Preferable a Ph.D. or DBA from a university accredited by Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), or equivalent accredited university. 
      • Ph.D. or DBA in Finance or a closely related field (students ABD - “All but dissertation” students may be considered at the rank of Instructor with the commitment to obtain the doctorate before the end of the first year of appointment).  
      • Ph.D. or DBA in Business  Administration and a Master in Finance (students ABD - “All but dissertation” students may be considered at the rank of Instructor with the commitment to obtain the doctorate before the end of the first year of appointment).  
  • Have face-to-face and virtual teaching and research skills. It is considered an active scholarship and publication agenda in finance or related fields. 
  • Be fluent in Spanish or English, preferably in both. If your native language is not Spanish, you must speak and write fluently in English, and at the end of the five-year probation period; you must be able to communicate effectively in Spanish. 

Preferable requirements: 

  • Experience teaching finance at the university level. 
  • Certifications in finance (Chartered Financial Analyst, Certified Financial Planner, Financial Risk Manager, Financial Modeling & Valuation Analyst). 
  • Professional experience in investment, insurance, fintech or corporate finance. 
  • Publications in finance in quality peer-reviewed journals. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES 

Tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Finance. The candidate will teach finance courses in various instructional formats (face-to-face, hybrid, and online), research, publish in finance in quality peer-reviewed publications, and participate in college-related activities. Tenure-track candidates will have a regular academic load of 12 credits per semester. It will be distributed between teaching and research/publication in finance. The successful candidate is expected to develop externally funded and nationally recognized research programs, be committed to excellence in finance education at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and contribute to other initiatives. The Accreditation Council accredits the College of Business Administration for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). It is in the process of obtaining the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). We encourage our professors to combine their regular workload between teaching and research.
