Faculty, Tenure Track - Rhetoric and Composition

Summary:
The Utah Valley University Department of English and Literature invites applications for a tenure-track position in Rhetoric and Composition to begin in August 2023.A successful candidate for the position will teach first-year composition, multicultural rhetorics, rhetorical theory, and other advanced writing courses, which may include classes satisfying the university's Global/Intercultural requirements. G/I classes at UVU foster a greater understanding of the diversity in our local and campus communities, as well as larger state and global contexts. The candidate will join a thriving cohort of Writing Studies and Technical Communication colleagues in support of the department's Writing Studies Emphasis, Minor in Writing Studies, and certificate in Editing and Document Design. The standard teaching load is 4/4, with opportunities for reassigned time for Writing Program Administration or other administrative work.The ideal candidate will have expertise in theories and teaching of multicultural, disability, and feminist rhetorics, as well as rhetorical theory. We seek a colleague who expects to serve on department and university committees to work toward promoting an advanced writing requirement across academic departments at UVU. Preferred secondary interests include new media studies, gender studies, posthuman studies, and digital pedagogy/composition.A Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment.Located forty miles south of Salt Lake City, Utah Valley University is the largest and fastest growing university in Utah with approximately 40,000 students. Required Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition or closely related field is required at time of appointment.

• Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with a committee at the departmental, college, and university levels.
• Ability to manage, motivate, and evaluate students.
