Assistant Professor - Tenure Track

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Teach undergraduate courses in applied trumpet study
  • Perform and teach classical and jazz/commercial styles; other duties may be assigned according to the needs of the department and applicant's areas of interest
  • Recruit and retain applied trumpet students
  • Maintain an active research/creative activity profile
  • Serve on committees as assigned
  • Participate in curricular and pedagogical development in the department and the applied studio


Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in Trumpet Performance (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university.)
  • Secondary area of emphasis may include Jazz/Commercial Studies, Music Technology, Sound Design/Recording Engineering, Music Business, Music Theory and Aural Skills or related area within a Doctoral or Master's degree level of study (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university.)
  • Demonstrated evidence of exemplary trumpet performance ability in classical and jazz/commercial styles
  • Demonstrated experience incorporating appropriate technologies (1:1 devices, audio, audio-visual, web-based) in courses
  • Demonstrated peer-reviewed creative activity or research
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to participation in professional organizations and mentoring students through such organizations
  • Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community
  • Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
