Job Summary

The Smead Aerospace Engineering Sciences (AES) Department in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Colorado Boulder is currently seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position with a focus in Bioastronautics. The opening is targeted at the level of Assistant Professor, but experienced candidates with outstanding credentials will be considered for an Associate or Full Professor appointment.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Successful candidates will be expected to engage in teaching AES undergraduate and graduate courses, contribute to professional leadership and service, develop a vigorous, externally funded research program, and contribute through their research, teaching, and service to the diversity and excellence of our academic community. Tenure-track faculty in AES typically hold positions that include 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% service effort distributions.

What We Can Offer

• The anticipated salary range for this position at the Assistant Professor rank is $100,000 - $115,000 academic year salary.
• Qualified candidates will be considered for Associate or Full Professor appointments. The full salary range is $100,000 - $160,000 dependent on rank.
• A relocation stipend is available within CEAS guidelines.

What We Require

• Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field by the time they are appointed as a tenure-track faculty member. Our strategic areas of interest include emergent technologies that enable autonomous deep space or planetary surface habitat operations, especially in situ Resource Utilization (ISRU), advanced Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS), and radiation mitigation concepts.
• Candidates working in gravitational or space research involving biological or physical sciences, or other areas related to Bioastronautics, will also be considered.
