West Virginia University (WVU) is seeking a full-time, tenure track (12-month) faculty member at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank in the Division of Exercise Physiology in Morgantown, WV. The successful candidate will contribute to the mission of WVU and the program in Exercise Physiology housed within the School of Medicine. Based on our faculty productivity (publications, grant funding, and national service), educational achievements and placement of the students, the Division of Exercise Physiology has been ranked as a top 10 nationally recognized program. The Division is looking for junior and mid-level career candidates that have an interest in becoming a catalyst for developing a research program with clinical and/or basic arms in skeletal muscle physiology and/or pathophysiology, or rehabilitation sciences and engineering that complement existing faculty research expertise. Candidates with expertise in basic and applied physiology and a strong publication record using modern approaches complimentary to the current research in the Division will be considered. Teaching will be primarily at the graduate level.

The successful candidate will be willing to mentor graduate students and collaborate with existing faculty who have research expertise in sensorimotor control, and skeletal muscle pathophysiology. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to interact with the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute ( https://wvumedicine.org/rni/ ), and WVU Cancer Institute ( https://cancer.wvumedicine.org ), and Mitochondria, Metabolism & Bioenergetics (MMB) Working Group. This appointment is offered in accordance with the provisions of West Virginia University as described in the Faculty Handbook ( http://wvufaculty.wvu.edu/r/download/139120 ). A competitive salary, strong startup funds, research space and equipment will be provided commensurate with experience.

Applicants must meet the following criteria for consideration:
  • PhD, preferably in fields complimentary of ones noted above, such as Physiology, Neuroscience, Biomechanics, Bioengineering, Muscle Physiology, etc.
  • Candidates at the Assistant level should have minimum (2) years post-doctoral experience and demonstrate potential to secure extramural funding.
  • Candidates at the Associate level should also have a history of significant research funding and serve as PI of at least one current extramural grant.
  • Appointment at the level of an Associate Professor in the tenure track will require transferable extramural funding, and evidence of strong peer-reviewed publications.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of the appointment.
