Job Description Summary:
The CRNA Core Faculty will teach at the graduate level; be involved in course and/or curriculum development; research/scholarship; and be an active member of program, College of Nursing and Samuel Merritt University committees and initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
Teaches at the graduate level in ADNP courses.
- Responsible for the conduct of assigned didactic courses.
- Responsible for planning courses, sequencing, and scheduling; lecture and coordination of guest faculty; composing and administering examinations; grading and conducting competency evaluations.
- Responsible for chairing 1 to 3 DNP projects.
- Assist in the administration of comprehensive (oral and written) exams.
- Coordinates simulation activities (planning and implementation) that are in the curriculum.
- Faculty may also assume duties of advisement and available for student counseling as required.
- Participation in program, college and university committees.
- Participation in new student orientation activities, program open
- houses, admissions, accreditation activities, exit interviews of
- graduates and special events.
- Represents the program at the local, state and national meeting levels.
- Maintains effective professional relationships within the program, the CRNA profession, in the clinical environment and the community.
- Earned doctorate in nursing or related field from a regionally accredited institution/program.
- Prelicensure master’s or doctoral degree with a Nurse Anesthesia major from a regionally accredited institution and nationally accredited nurse anesthesia program.
- Three or more years of clinical experience in the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) role.
- Current unrestricted license as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
- Current CRNA certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
- Current BLS, ACLs and PALs certifications
- Experience as a faculty member in a nursing education program at the College/University level.
- Experience with virtual/distance teaching platform experience.
- Experience with simulation in education.
- Evidence of scholarship leading to professional presentations, research, and/or publications.
- Service in professional organizations (e.g. membership and / or committee involvement).
- Demonstrated expertise in nurse anesthesia knowledge and clinical practice.
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrated computer skills using web-based applications and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Competence in use of technology in teaching and distance learning.
- Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning.
- Must value continued scholarship and service to the school, university and community.
