The position is responsible for overseeing Early Childhood Education programs, curriculum projects, grants, and special initiatives in the Early Childhood Education Department. The Early Childhood Education Program Manager contributes to student success through promoting ECE degrees and certificates, advising prospective students and targeted advising for students who indicated interest in Early Childhood Education, supporting partnerships with, practicum, internship and other off-site educational facilities, assisting with department marketing and community outreach and supervising a team of dedicated department staff members. Under the supervision of the Associate Dean, the Early Childhood Education Program Manager will oversee, refine, and expand Early Childhood Education programs; coordinate and implement projects through cross-functional collaboration with faculty and staff across the College; and support practices, programs, and initiatives that may include, but are not limited to, consultation and execution of ECE program expansion, enrollment marketing, and special projects; leading or serving on pertinent task forces, committees, and working groups; and, collaborating with external partners.

Required Qualification
  1. Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years’ work experience in a business environment, college or university.
  2. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  3. Ability to plan and prioritize work requirements and demonstrate independent decision-making capabilities.
  4. Experience working with individuals from diverse ethnic, socio-economic and educational backgrounds.
  5. Ability to work flexible hours including some evening and weekend hours consistent with events or student needs.
  6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other similar software.
  7. Ability to develop and enhance collaborative partnerships to aid in recruitment of students.
  8. Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

4. Experience working within a community college.

Project management/Program Development: 50%
1) Mange key projects associated with the Early Childhood Education department and grant activities. These projects will include the implementation of several components of the Early Childhood Access Consortium for Equity grant.

2) Assist senior division leaders and ECE faculty in grant management and coordination of services for students.

Collaboration with key stakeholders: 20%
1) In collaboration with the Business and Social Sciences Division leadership and faculty, coordinate student services and recruitment events.

2) Serve as the division’s liaison with key College departments for initiatives related to enrollment marketing and managing special projects.
3) Assist the dean and faculty by serving as a liaison to local business, industry, government and community leaders to understand current and future trends relating to ECE workforce training and credentialing.
4) Actively engage with organizations that promote Lake County early childhood education.

5) Assist department chairs with recruiting/securing off- site partners for clinical, practicum, internship placements for students; coordinate meetings between partner site representative and division department chairs/faculty and staff, and internal partners such as the Career and Job Placement Center.
6) Serve as a liaison between program faculty and key departments in Student Services (recruiting, advising, etc.) regarding key programs and initiatives from the division.

Department Operations/Processes: 15%


1) Assists in making travel reservations and processes expense reimbursements for ECE faculty and staff.

2) Schedule’s meetings, works with the Division Academic Accounting Technician to purchase orders, tracks budget expenditures, prepares payment requests and change of salary forms, assists with textbook ordering, and solves other departmental and grant problems as necessary.

3) Organizes and maintains files needed for the financial operation of the department and grants.

4) Ensures security and confidentiality of files and records.

5) Assists in maintaining and coordinating repairs of office and instructional equipment and supplies.

6) Files or prepares documentation and maintains office records.

7) Assists the administrative staff by assembling information for a variety of assignments including, but not limited to assembling information for proposals and approvals.

8) Maintains various departmental lists and confidential or public mailing lists.

9) Prepares a variety of departmental correspondence and sorts and/or routes incoming correspondence.

10) Follows all institution and regulatory policies, procedures and standards. Utilizes self-appraisal to determine progress in meeting performance management system objectives and career goals.

Program Support: 13%
1) Assist the department faculty with the development of strategic marketing plans; assist with community outreach to early childhood education centers and other community partners; and work with the College of Lake County’s Career and Job Placement Center with the coordination of various outreach activities.
2) Assist faculty with all required reporting to maintain assessments, accreditations, grants, and evaluation processes to ensure they are current and complete.
3) Assist the Department Chair in coordinating career program advisory committee meetings.

Other: 2%
