Job Description Summary
The Director, Graduate and Alumni Career Development (GCD) serves on the leadership team of the Pulsifer Career Development Center and reports to the Executive Director, Pulsifer Career Development Center. The Director provides leadership, strategic vision, and priorities for the Graduate Career Development (GCD) team and manages the day-to-day operations. The Director will lead a team of 3 full time career coaches, an Administrative Coordinator, a Part Time Alumni Career Coach, and student workers. The Director ensures all graduate students receive a comprehensive career development program encompassing coaching, career education, workshops, engagement with industry experts and a graduate student career fair. The Director will be a key partner to many internal and external stakeholders including Undergraduate Career Development, Graduate Admissions, Graduate Academic Advising, the Center of International Students and Scholars, Faculty, Deans, and student groups. The Director will build and maintain successful relationships with alumni, industry experts and employers. The Director will lead GCD efforts on placement data and ranking initiatives. The Director will lead the alumni coach and volunteers to focus on building scalable services to assist alumni at diverse stages of their career journey. The director will partner with the Office of Alumni and Family Engagement and UA Communications related to alumni career workshops, outreach, promotions, and surveys to alumni. Essential Duties

Director, Graduate and Alumni Career Development, provides leadership and strategic vision to the Graduate Career Development team. Duties include planning and management of all operation and staffing matters and overseeing the successful implementation and execution of all graduate and alumni career development offerings. The Director ensures that Bentley graduate students can explore career options and identify opportunities that align with their goals. Success is based upon innovation in career education, marketing, technology, and programming as it aligns with the changing graduate student population. The Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the office and recruit, hire, train and manageprofessional/administrative/contractstaff. Critical duties include:

  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership for the team of career development professionals dedicated to the advising of all graduate students. Plan, market, implement and evaluate all career center services for graduate students, educational programs, and signature Graduate career events. Continue to develop and innovative the curriculum for the career courses offered to graduate students.
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with academic deans, faculty, and university administrators to enhance student growth and engagement, experiential learning, and post-graduation outcomes. Partner with graduate admissions and graduate advising for mutually beneficial outcomes. Represent GCD at program directors and curriculum meetings on a regular basis. This relationship building should be with the goal of furthering Bentley's strategic mission for the Graduate school and enhancing the graduate student experience.
  • Ensure representation of the Graduate Career Development team for admission's events, marketing initiatives, consortiums, various presentations, and external events with industry partners. Become an engaged member of the Boston MBA/MS consortium and the MBACSEA consortium.
  • Champion diversity of the student population and ensure the team provides a welcoming environment for all graduate students. Gain knowledge of CPT, OPT and visa processes and challenges by developing and maintaining a strong relationship with the Center for International Students and Scholars office. Adjust Graduate Career offerings as needed to accommodate new Bentley Graduate programs and the changing needs or demographics of graduate students. Support all DE&I initiatives and provide team members with the opportunity to develop professionally in this area on an on-going basis.
  • Develop the technical skills to deliver, and support the team to deliver, a hybrid portfolio of career programs, networking events and courses to meet the needs of all students as they prepare to launch into a dynamic world of work requiring skill and aptitude in both an in-person and virtual environment. Oversee all technology resources to ensure relevance and effectiveness. This currently includes, but is not limited to, Big Interview, VMOCK, Firsthand, GoinGlobal, Interstride and Handshake. Research, and evaluate cost/benefit of innovative technologies. Manage the Graduate Career Center website to ensure dynamic content.
  • Gain certification in relevant assessment tools such as Clifton StrengthsFinder, Career Leader, Career and Life Design and more, as needed, to ensure students and the team can gain critical self-awareness for career success.
  • Provide oversight of data tracking to ensure strong outcomes, effectiveness of programs, reporting analysis, surveys, and benchmarking to guide strategic direction; manage the relationship with Business Intelligence on the MBACSEA survey and process. Focus on strong response rate and placement rates to build and maintain Bentley's market positioning.
  • Develop ongoing strategy to meet the goals and objectives for alumni career services for alumni in diverse stages of their career. Manage alumni career coach and the collaboration with Office of Alumni and Family Engagement and relevant alumni advisory groups to devise new ways to build connections and expand offerings for alumni as needed.
  • Work with Advancement Communications and Alumni Career Coach to manage updates to the Alumni Career website, event promotion and communication for alumni, and the administration of career related surveys and interpretation of such surveys


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Graduate Degree strongly preferred
  • Experience managing and leading a team of professionals; ability to create an environment where the team can demonstrate intellectual curiosity, solve problems, and embrace change.
  • A minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible leadership roles within career development or related industry experience.
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills and executive presence with the ability to meet with and deliver presentations to diverse audience both in person and remotely. Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Proven curiosity and knowledge of the business environment, economic trends, job market trends and employer needs as it relates to the hiring landscape upon which Bentley students will launch. Able to conduct effective outreach to increase employer relationships.
  • Able to handle multiple projects utilizing excellent project management skills meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deep commitment to high quality work product with key attention to detail.
  • Technical skills include being familiar or able to quickly learn all career services vendor platforms, job recruiting system and social media outlets. Proficiency
  • Ability to travel @10%.
