Appointment:

School of Education, full-time 5-Year Clinical Assistant Professor, Master of Education in Counseling Program; begins Fall 2023 with the option to begin in Summer 2023 if available.

Responsibilities:

Teaching responsibilities include teaching graduate-level courses such as counseling internship practicum, family counseling, multicultural counseling, developmental counseling, and/or counseling theories. The faculty member normally will be expected to provide a minimum of one undergraduate course per year that serves the Psychology Department. Engage with faculty in collaborative work on program and curriculum development. Supervision responsibilities include observing and mentoring graduate students in local public schools and mental health agencies and providing group and/or triadic supervision as needed. Advising responsibilities include meeting with prospective students and mentoring graduate students. Other duties include participation in departmental and university governance and continuation of professional development in the faculty member's area of expertise.

Qualifications:

    Doctorate in counselor education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program OR doctoral degree in a related field with employment as full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013. Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a clinical mental health counselor in Washington State. Counseling experience in clinical mental health Knowledge of equity and inclusion informed theories and research, and an understanding of working with diverse populations. Research interests or professional experience in evidence-based, culturally responsive interventions preferred. Commitment to liberal arts education.

Compensation and Benefits:

Rank: Clinical Assistant Professor, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The position is renewable, subject to continuing need for the position and formal evaluation.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

About the MEd Program

The Master of Education in Counseling program at the University of Puget Sound is seeking CACREP accreditation and will host a site visit in Fall 2022. The program offers the speciality areas of School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The program has three full-time core faculty members. MEd candidates are placed in local public schools and mental health agencies for practicum and internship. Supervision is provided by core faculty members and adjunct faculty. The faculty team works closely together on ongoing curriculum and program development to train reflective, collaborative, and social justice counselors. The School of Education offers three programs: Master of Education in Counseling program, a Master of Arts in Teaching program, and a minor in Education Studies. Students experience sustained clinical experiences in local public schools, mental health agencies, and/or community centers. Students actively pursue culturally responsive practice and contribute collaboratively to the ongoing work of equity.
