Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Student Employment is a full-time staff member whose primary responsibility is to manage, enrich, and scale the Rollins on-campus employment programs including the Federal Work Study program, Frueauff Student Employment program, Graduate Assistant and College-funded positions.

This role will cultivate relationships with the broader campus community, including: (1) Guiding students throughout the process of exploring, landing, and maximizing the benefits of on-campus jobs; (2) Coaching campus supervisors through the job creation, hiring, development, and learning performance experiences; (3) Collaborating with staff and administrators from the offices of Financial Aid Office, Human Resources, International Student & Scholar Services, and Finance while partnering to establish policies, workflows, and procedures that increase clarity and remove barriers for students.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Create, Post, and Promote Student Jobs & Partnerships
• Partner with Human Resources, Finance, and campus departments to manage student positions and coordinate the creation of new student positions, graduate assistantships, and summer student temp employment.
• Promote student employment programs to students and campus partners to enhance visibility of the opportunities and increase participation and engagement impact.
• Collaborate with the Offices of Financial Aid, Finance, and Institutional Advancement to manage the work study and Frueauff budgets for the College, as well as project future costs and increases.
• Manage the student on-campus job posting process, serving as the point-person for hiring departments on campus, providing training and assistance to supervisors posting positions and hiring students, and reviewing and editing all on-campus job postings submitted by departments to ensure that they are accurate, consistent, and provide sufficient detail.
• Promote and track student job postings to ensure that student jobs are filled in a timely manner, and that student applicants receive appropriate follow-up.
• Serve as the Center for Career & Life Planning point person for approving all internal Rollins student employee roles. Collaborate with Handshake representatives, Rollins IT, and campus supervisors recruiting and job posting processes. Troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Utilize the following software programs to process and track student job placement: Handshake, Banner, Argos, Foxlink and SharePoint.
• Work closely with the Director, manage, assess, and enhance employment practices, policies, and procedures by collaborating with HR, Payroll, OISSS, Financial Aid, Title IX, and Finance and by staying informed on best employment practices and regulation updates.

Process New Hires & Reporting
• Manage the student new hire paperwork process for domestic and international students, adhering to federal regulations and Rollins College requirements.
• Manage work study, department-funded, graduate assistant, and Frueauff student hires, transfers, and releases in collaboration with HR, Financial Aid, and partner offices.
• Coordinate and process bulk stipend payments for student employee populations.
• Manage the grant-funded Frueauff Student Employment program and supervising the Experiential Learning Frueauff Student Employee.
• Provide student employment reports.
• Provide comparative data to highlight program successes, challenges, and initiatives.
• Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to share the stories of impact resulting from Student Employment programs.

Education and Training of Students and Supervisors
• Familiarize and educate student employees and employers with the policies and procedures of student employment at Rollins College, and federal regulations.
• Provide career support for students interested in working on campus, helping them to explore open positions and advising them on application and interview best practices. Support current student employees with making connections between the skills gained and their future career goals.
• Coordinate and manage the annual Student Employee Supervisor Workshops, training supervisors to enhance the student learning/engagement in their departments.
• Partner with campus leaders, employers, alumni, and supervisors to design and facilitate learning workshops for student employees.
• Coach, advise, and partner with employees and managers on best strategies for improving communications/behaviors/relationships and solutions to conflicts.
• Implement, track, and critically assess the Student Employee Learning Outcome Assessments.

Additional Responsibilities and Support
• Support Gateway programming, strategy and implementation through cross-departmental collaboration, integration of Gateway language into CCLP programming, and support helping students identify and articulate their Gateway experiences.
• Hire, mentor, and supervise graduate assistants and undergraduate staff to assist the Rollins Student Employment Program. Manage, plan, and promote recognition and celebration programs including Supervisor of Year and National Student Employee Appreciation Week on an annual basis, coordinating daily events and drawings.
• Represent CCLP on the division-wide Student Leadership Awards Committee, managing the Student Employee of the Year nomination and selection process.
• Assist with providing one-on-one career counseling for students and alumni with all phases of basic career development including self-assessment, major exploration, graduate school preparation, career and industry research, identification of appropriate internship opportunities, and job search skill development.
• Support CCLP with outreach presentations, recruitment, and networking events.
• Represent CCLP team and Rollins at various professional associations, panels, and meetings.

Minimum Qualifications & Education:
• Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• A minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
• Understanding and familiarity with multiple areas of professional development pertaining to career exploration, application and interview processes, including job searching, resume and cover letter writing, and interviewing techniques.
• Awareness of legal issues as they pertain to employment practices within the US.
• Understanding of international student population needs and legal issues pertaining to their curricular and optional practical training (OPT and CPT).
• Strong critical thinking skills, ability to deal with ambiguity, resolve complex problems, and effectively identify solutions.
• Ability to interact effectively and professionally with students and constituents including staff, employer contacts, students, alumni, faculty, and parents, while establishing and maintaining positive working relationships.
• Ability to craft reports, collect and analyze data, assess and streamline processes by thinking creatively to leverage technology in innovative ways.
• Knowledge, skill and proficiency in using a variety of computer software programs (example: Word, Excel, Access), and in learning multiple new software systems.
Possess strong written and oral communication skills; comfort in presenting to groups of internal and external constituents.
• Knowledge and practice of strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to develop, monitor and evaluate multiple, detailed office systems including budgets, event registrations, tracking of resume and cover letter reviews, employer databases and mass mailings.
• Comfort supervising and ability to direct the work of others.
• Service excellence focus with commitment to meeting the unique needs of students, alumni, campus employers, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in human resources, counseling, college student personnel, or other related field.
• Experience with Handshake, Banner, and/or Argos.

Work Environment:
• Campus-based, front-facing customer service position, working in an office environment.
• Work requires visual strain and use of computer.
• Evenings and weekends as appropriate and required.
