The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Westmont College is now accepting applications and nominations for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Medical Anthropology, effective fall 2023. The department seeks a globally-engaged, community-oriented scholar who is broadly trained in anthropology, with an excellent teaching record and an active research agenda.
 
Candidates should be prepared to teach courses such as: introduction to cultural anthropology, culture theory, medical anthropology, global inequality and development, cross-cultural communication, or other upper-level courses in their fields of specialization. They should have interest and/or experience in helping lead new interdisciplinary and/or community-based participatory initiatives and research, and contributing to the college’s accelerated BS program in Nursing.
 
While specialty and geographical areas are open, teaching or research experience in the following areas are preferred: public health, minority health and health disparities, gerontology, environment and health, global health. We particularly encourage applications from scholars working in traditions of applied, engaged, and public anthropology.
 
Applicants must have earned a PhD or MPH/PhD in Anthropology, Public Health or related field, by the date of appointment; applicants who have not completed their PhD at the time of application will be considered.
