The Department of Religious Studies at Westmont College invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in Old Testament, effective Fall of 2023. Applicants with a completed (or very soon to be completed) PhD in Old Testament will be considered. The successful candidate must have experience teaching elementary Hebrew grammar and Introduction to Old Testament, preferably at the undergraduate level. A record of excellence in teaching a diverse student body and expertise in supporting student learning are required for this position.

Westmont is a national liberal arts college in the evangelical Protestant tradition. We seek faculty who are committed to undergraduate teaching, to a program of scholarly activity, and to the mission of liberal arts education, all growing out of a vital and informed commitment to the Christian faith. Faculty members annually sign a statement of faith and endorse a statement on living in community.

Westmont is an EEO employer, seeking to be diverse in people and programs consistent with its mission. Women, candidates from historically underrepresented groups, and international scholars are especially encouraged to apply.

Use this link to access the application. Questions may be addressed to Dr. Helen Rhee, chair of the Religious Studies department, at rhee@westmont.edu. Review of applications will begin October 1, 2022, and will continue until the position is filled.
