Overview
The Organizational Advisor (a part-time position) under the supervision of the Director(s) and Principal Investigator(s), facilitates the ongoing restructuring/development of the Leadership Team and associated project planning process(es), consistent with the project's core mission and values. S/he is responsible for providing relevant options for tools/strategies that are appropriate for soliciting and compiling input from Leadership Team members, followed by use of selected planning processes/tools that help to define the project's strategic plan. Following the facilitation of an initial framework, the Org. Advisor is responsible to then solicit/facilitate input from other project stakeholders (e.g. individuals served, family members, community partners, etc.), adding to the framework of the strategic plan. The Org. Advisor will support the full engagement of the project leadership team, mentoring team members to take ownership of the plan/activities and enable continued growth thru the process. The Org. Advisor will ensure the plan is clear, measureable, and inclusive of all project stakeholders, with periodic reviews built into the ongoing process to ensure progress, reviews/evaluation, updates are made as appropriate, and the project continues as a functioning example of best-practice service delivery.


Responsibilities
Responsibilities (100%)
  • Fulfill a proactive and professional advising/coaching role that supports the leadership team’s development of strategic planning goals, objectives, and activities consistent with the project’s mission and core values
  • Schedule ongoing reviews of short/long-range project goals, objectives and activities with leadership team and stakeholders leading to further development/progress towards same
  • Provide professional guidance/mentoring as to broadening project services to reflect best practices
  • Assist Director(s) in the development, utilization, and review of a stakeholder survey that captures feedback from project stakeholders at least annually
  • Assist in using the gathered data (qualitative and quantitative) to include in annual project report and products to disseminate information on project activities
  • Represent the team, staff, persons served/family members in a positive and professional light across project programs/activities, as well as throughout SDSU/SDSURF, and community settings
  • Utilize planning processes that support collaboration of project team/activities within Interwork Institute, SDSURF, and SDSU system to promote opportunities for student learning/participation and best practice development
  • Collaborate with PI’s and Director(s), as well the larger project team and support network
  • Advocate for quality lives and support services for persons with developmental/intellectual disabilities
  • Other activities as deemed appropriate by the PI’s


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience to include: professional-level responsibilities providing person-centered Supported/Independent Living and/or Community Employment Services to and for adults with disabilities, teaching/training/mentoring/coaching experience, and/or Regional Center planning/knowledge/training experience.

• Minimum 5 years of experience working directly within the Developmental Disability service system.

• Bachelor’s degree required, Human Services-related field preferred (e.g. Education, Psychology, Rehabilitation, Social Work), or related field.

Preferred Qualification

• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive service delivery models for people with developmental disabilities
• Knowledge/experience with a variety of strategic planning approaches, tools, processes
• Experience to include staff training, coaching, and/or supervision
• Skill in gathering input and ideas from others and synthesizing it into a cohesive plan utilizing stakeholder participation
• Networking capabilities with CA service providers and stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a variety of stakeholders, such as leadership teams, persons served, families, and others
• Ability to articulate and carry-out coaching/planning activities consistent with the core values and mission of the project
