The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is seeking aNurse Practitionerwho under the direction of a physician will perform and within the scope of practice, plan, assess, implement and evaluate total clinical care in accordance with established policies, evaluates patients in our Pediatric Outpatient Mental Health Clinic.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive assessments of
pediatric patients in the pediatric emergency department and
hospitalized pediatric patients and at Bloomberg Children’s Center.
Assessment includes gathering patient history, a mental status
examination as well as contact with collateral
sources.
- Coordinate communication with the medical
team and the psychiatry physicians.
- Assess patient’s needs for medication
management, prescribe medications and monitor treatment response,
order tests and other assessments.
- Assess necessity for higher level of care,
such as inpatient hospitalization.
- Adhere to our Service Excellence Standards:
Customer Relations, Self-Management, Teamwork, Communications,
Ownership/Accountability, and Continuous Performance
Improvement.
- Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in nursing. Registered Nurse
license and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner. Must be licensed as
NP in State of Maryland or other state where
practicing.
- Advanced clinical skills in specialty area
or equivalent.
- General computer knowledge and capability to
use computer.
- Ability to incorporate into practice
theoretical concepts and advanced clinical skills with patients,
families, and interdisciplinary health care team
members.
- Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to
communicate effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary
health care team to enhance collaboration and problem
solving.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally
and in writing, in order to provide information to patients and
health care personnel.
- Ability to function effectively in a fluid,
dynamic, and rapidly changing environment.
- Current CPR certification.
- Current licensure and certification
maintained for duration of employment.
- Completion of the JHH credentialing process required prior to start date.

- Two or more years of direct pediatric patient care experience.
