Assistant Professor in Avian Science

The University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus is currently searching for candidates to teach courses and conduct research in the Department of Animal Science specifically in Avian Science (Poultry Science) 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

Possess a PhD in Avian Science (Poultry Science) or in Animal Science with a specialty in Avian Sciences (Poultry Science). Candidates must have extensive knowledge in poultry science and be able to work in a team.  Candidates will need to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills as well as proficiency in Spanish and English.  Provide a record of scientific research publications which indicates the candidate's potential to establish and maintain a productive research program.  Candidates must teach various courses in the Department of Animal Science related to their area of expertise. 

JOB DESCRIPTION  

The University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez Campus, Department of Animal Science, is seeking candidates for a position of Assistant Professor with a specialty in Poultry Management, Nutrition, Reproduction and Physiology.  The appointment is in the Agricultural Experimental Station, 75% research and 25% teaching. 

Tasks: 

The successful candidate will contribute to the growth and development of research and teaching in the management, nutrition, reproduction, and physiology of poultry, and could include other non-ruminant species (other avian species).  Research programs should address issues of relevance to the local and international poultry industry including the dissemination of information to producers and industry professionals.  The candidate is expected to collaborate with colleagues on and off the Campus, as well as industry leaders, and foster a positive and highly productive work environment.  The candidate will also advise undergraduate and graduate students and teach various courses in the Department of Animal Science related to their area of expertise.
