Position Purpose

Supports professor’s creative research on multi-phase media and book design projects in an off-campus studio.

Bachelors plus 1-2 year(s) of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Education
  • BFA in Studio Art, Graphic Design, or Printmaking.
Experience
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience working with an artist/designer in professional studio.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge of typography, artist books, book design, print media, and contemporary publishing practices.
  • Excellent Macintosh experience.
  • Attention to details, craft, and good hand skills.
  • Reliable and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Good communicator (written and verbal).
  • Bookbinding and editioning production methods.
  • General maintenance of tools in studio (press, risograph, cutters, computers).
  • Ability to multitask, set priorities and complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Experience
  • MFA in Studio Art, Printmaking, Book Arts, or 2 years’ experience work in a Graphic Design studio.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Photographic documentation of artwork.
  • Digital printmaking processes.

  • Specialty hand printing to include relief processes (letterpress + woodblock), screen-printing, and/or risography, and hand bookbinding tasks for creative research projects.
