Job Description

The Assistant Director serves as the program director for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions Welcome Center and leads a team of professional staff charged with the oversight and coordination of Welcome Center operations, top scholar recruitment, ambassadors, tour guides and strategic initiatives.

The Assistant Director is charged with the successful delivery of various admission based, on campus recruitment events (specifically Academic Visit Days) and the supervision of Welcome Center staff.

The position has four direct reports – 1 Welcome Center Coordinator – Top Scholars, 2 Welcome Center Admission Counselors, 1 part-time Welcome Center assistant as well as 15 to 24 Tour Guides and 50 to 60 University Ambassadors.

Job Duties
  • Oversee the coordination of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions Welcome Center
  • Supervise four staff – direct reports include 1 Welcome Center Coordinator of Top Scholars, 2 Welcome Center Admission Counselors, 1 part-time Welcome Center assistant
  • Provide leadership development, training, and mentorship to University Ambassadors, including but not limited to performance management and evaluation, career development, assessment and training
  • Coordinate Tour times and dates, Spring Break Tours, Academic Visit Days, Transfer Information Sessions, and assist with Bobcat Days
  • Collaborate with university partners (Academic Colleges, Marketing, Housing and Residence Life, LBJ Center, Family and Parent Relations, Financial Aid, University Police, Parking and Transportation, Round Rock Campus, Alumni Association, and others) for programming and recruitment initiatives and maintain positive working relationships
  • Work with Admissions Technology to produce templates in SLATE and Admissions Comm Team to produce publications, web site, promotional materials, and content for the Welcome Center
  • Coordinate and execute on campus/virtual visits for prospective students and families, VIP tours, special groups, and large groups
  • Develop and maintain assessments of the Welcome Center visit programs and provide reports and recommendations to the Undergraduate Admissions leadership
  • Direct the planning and implementation of Top Scholar Recruitment
  • Other duties as assigned
