Our sports broadcasting courses work with UCM Athletics to livestream multiple sports in fall and spring semesters. We have a 24’ broadcast trailer complete with a TriCaster TC2 Elite, 3P1 replay system, 4 Blackmagic URSA mini broadcast build up cameras that utilize SMPTE fiber for video transmission, one Blackmagic URSA mini broadcast shoulder mount camera with wireless video transmission, Behringer X32 Compact mixer, TELEX communication system, several NDI stationary and robotic cameras, and an ATEM camera control unit.

The successful candidate will need to be knowledgeable or willing to learn the operation of the truck and equipment. The successful candidate will primarily teach undergraduate courses in sports broadcasting, but will also need to be able to teach other courses in digital media production in their desired area, such as: Multimedia Production, Intro to Digital Video, Multicam Studio Production, Media Aesthetics, Audio Production, Writing Across the Media, or a number of others.

Typical course load for instructors in the department is 4/4; however, instructors of sports production will receive release time in recognition of the extended schedule required by game coverage.The candidate will additionally have the opportunity to perform service to the program, college, university, and discipline in order to be considered for promotion through the instructor ranks.

Experience teaching or producing live sports is required. Trouble-shooting skills are an important part of the job, as well as calmness under pressure and the ability to mentor students in the sports broadcasting industry.

○ Sports Broadcasting/Live-streaming experience
○ Technical and troubleshooting skills in assistance to our broadcast systems
engineer in maintaining broadcast equipment
○ Have knowledge of both software and hardware within audio and video systems
○ Demonstrate an ability to interact positively with students, faculty, and staff

RANK AND SALARY : Assistant Instructor. Salary begins at $39,755 ($46,770 with a terminal degree), with the opportunity for advancement in the university’s instructor promotion program.
DATE OF APPOINTMENT : Fall Semester, 2023.

QUALIFICATIONS : A master’s degree in broadcast media or a related field is required.
