Description
The School of Kinesiology at Auburn University is seeking a dynamic Physical Therapy clinician to join our developing Doctor of Physical Therapy ( DPT ) program as the Director of Clinical Education. This opportunity is available for the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor, Associate Clinical Professor, or Clinical Professor, consistent with qualifications. Knowledge of or experience with integrative Health Care is desirable. ACADEMIC APPOINTMENT : Full-time, 12 months; rank commensurate with experience
SCOPE : Serves as Director of Clinical Education for the developing DPT program; obtains and maintains clinical contracts with various health care facilities; works with Program Director within CAPTE standards to prepare Application for Candidacy (for program Accreditation); works directly with DPT students to ensure high quality clinical experiences in a variety of settings; promotes excellence, integrity, and service in all interactions.

REPORTS TO: Director of the School of Kinesiology

Requirements
The Director of Clinical Education obtains and maintains contracts and other documentation with our clinical partners, including hospitals, outpatient clinics and other healthcare facilities. Collaborates with the School of Kinesiology and DPT Program Directors to assist with the development of the DPT program and the documentation necessary (regarding clinical education) to be accredited. Works with students and clinical partners to ensure quality clinical experiences. Opportunity for both online and on-site work.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Obtains and maintains sufficient clinical contracts with a variety of healthcare settings to provide adequate selection of clinical slots for every part-time and full-time clinical course required by DPT .
  • Communicates directly with stakeholders to establish high quality clinical rotations and integrated curricular experiences.
  • Establishes, communicates, and enforces program policies and procedures regarding Clinical Education.
  • Collaborates with clinical instructors to evaluate student performance and assign grades for all clinical education courses.
  • Assists in the selection and use of assessment tool(s) for evaluating student clinical education performance.
  • Assists with recruitment of highly qualified DPT students who represent diverse populations.
  • Manages fiscal resources associated with the clinical education program, under the supervision of the School of Kinesiology and DPT Program Directors.
  • Assists in guiding curriculum design, planning, scheduling, and outcome measures related to the clinical education component to promote excellence in student (program) learning outcomes.
  • Guides strategic planning related to clinical education through assessment feedback.
  • Teaches or co-teaches didactic courses related to areas of expertise.
  • Promotes and supports faculty and staff professional development, especially as it relates to clinical education.
  • Promotes and helps plan program involvement and service within the community.
  • Promotes and helps plan Clinical Instructor development opportunities including familiarization with DPT program and goals.
QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Candidates must be eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in the State of Alabama at time of employment.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Physical Therapy that leads to licensure.
  • Minimum of 5 years of full-time clinical practice following licensure.
  • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience as Director of Clinical Education ( DCE ) OR Clinical Coordinator of Clinical Education ( CCCE ) OR Clinical Instructor (CI) for DPT students OR 3 years of experience in teaching, curriculum development and administration in DPT program.
  • Strong leadership skills and a vision for excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Skill in conflict resolution desired.
  • Demonstrates ethical behavior in professional life.
  • Committed to developing and sustaining strong and substantive community relations.
