Purpose of Position
The Maintenance Manager works to maintain Campus Recreation facilities including the aquatic mechanical room, Campus Recreation Center, and Outdoor Complex. Primary Responsibilities
Aquatics – 50% of time
  • Performs general maintenance and repair work in and around the pool facility and mechanical room
  • Monitors and tests swimming pool and Spa water daily for Chlorine, pH, alkalinity, water hardness, and combined Chlorine. Calibrates chemical controllers to ensure correct levels are kept
  • Maintains proper temperature, chemistry, and circulation in the Campus Rec’s pool and spa; handles and applies chemicals; handles pool chemicals safely and employs the proper safety and personal protective equipment ( PPE )
  • Regularly checks water readings, filters, pump valves, tanks, gauges and vents
  • Backwashes filters according to established procedures
  • Performs preventive maintenance on pumps, chlorinators, heating and filtration Equipment to maintain operative condition
  • Performs minor plumbing work on pool equipment, piping and fittings
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining inventory of chemicals, parts, and supplies as needed
Campus Recreation Center – 40% of time
  • Serve as liaison to NKU Operations & Maintenance and custodial services
    • Primary point of contact for building projects and repairs
  • Managing work orders from submission to completion
  • Accurately forecast, schedule, and oversee preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Other duties as assigned
Outdoor Complex – 10% of time
  • Perform weekly maintenance of athletic turf field
  • Assist with forecasting and planning for preventative maintenance
  • Assist with seasonal opening/closing of outdoor facilities
Qualifications
  • Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Requires working knowledge of the practices and procedures associated with
  • Maintenance, operation, and upkeep of swimming pools and pool complexes.
  • Requires working knowledge of swimming pool water chemistry and the procedures and methods for testing.
  • Requires working knowledge of pool cleaning techniques including disinfecting and algae control and removal.
  • Requires a basic understanding of facility maintenance, common plumbing repair techniques, and safety precautions.
  • Requires working knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations relating to pool maintenance, operation, and safety.
  • Requires sufficient writing skills to document maintenance activity.
  • Requires sufficient math skills to compute portions and weights.
  • Must be able to perform duties with a focus on safety. Requires the ability to plan and prioritize work in order to meet demanding schedules for use of facilities.
  • Requires the ability to work varying work shifts
Minimum Education High School Diploma Preferred Education Minimum Experience 3 years Salary Range $19.04 to $21.72 /per hour Pay Grade S68
