Neumann University invites applications for a Director of our Master of Science program in Forensic Psychology, beginning in January or August 2023, as negotiated.

We seek to hire a colleague who can direct and contribute in substantive ways to our Forensic Psychology graduate program. Although our preference is to hire a person with a background in Psychology of Law, we remain open to candidates with a clinical background, an experimental background, or a background in Criminal Justice with a focus on intelligence analysis. We highly encourage anyone thinking of applying to the position to review our curriculum: http://catalog.neumann.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=24&poid=1987&returnto=735

  • To qualify for rank as an assistant professor, the successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in psychology, clinical psychology, or criminal justice. A clear focus on law/the legal system must be evident in the coursework completed.

  • To qualify for rank as an associate professor, the successful candidate must meet the requirement for an assistant professor and provide evidence of experience teaching in a full-time position at an accredited college or university at the rank of assistant professor for at least five years. Candidates for associate professor rank will also need to have peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations at the regional or national level.

  • To qualify for rank as a full professor, the successful candidate must provide evidence of experience teaching in a full-time position at an accredited college or university for a minimum of ten years, and at least five years of experience at the rank of associate professor. Candidates for full professor rank will also need to have peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations at the national or international level and evidence of leadership positions on university-level committees and/or university or professional administrative experience.

As Director of the Graduate Program, the successful candidate will be expected to attend graduate admission events to meet with prospective students, review all applications, interview applicants, and serve as the primary advisor in the program. The current cohort is ten students. The Director reports to the Dean and works with the Dean to staff and schedule courses on a semester basis. The Director also conducts periodic meetings with the program faculty via email and MS Teams.

The teaching load is six courses per year on a 12-month contract. Neumann expects full-time faculty to engage in scholarship and research on an ongoing basis, to perform committee service and academic advising, and to engage in community service, broadly defined. Candidates should be aware that Neumann University does not have a system of tenure, but instead offers faculty a policy-governed system of promotion and increasingly extended contracts with faculty seniority.

For full consideration, applications must include the following materials: (1) a letter of interest that addresses the candidate’s experience as well as the candidate’s appreciation for, and congruence with, the Catholic Franciscan mission of the University; (2) a curriculum vitae; (3) copies of graduate and undergraduate transcripts (official copies will be required at the time of hire); and (4) teaching evaluations, a sample syllabus, and/or other evidence of demonstrated excellence in teaching. Letters of recommendation are not required at the initial stages of the review process, but will be solicited of all finalist candidates.

Review of applications will begin on Monday, November 7, 2022, and continue until the position is filled.
