Position Summary
To provide “Front Line” operational and technical support on the VCU Medical Campus to include but not limited to, multimedia systems and applications installation and support, faculty and staff training, asset management, and statistical reporting for Media Support Services. The support of these systems and services facilitates the university’s quest to meet the instructional, research, and training efforts and to produce high-quality learning spaces that improve graduation rates and graduate success in the workforce.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a strong customer service background.
- Must have a working knowledge of classroom multimedia
technologies such as AV control systems, projectors, web-based
conferencing hardware, audio system components, and presentation
resources.
- Ability to troubleshoot functionality and signal path issues in
multimedia AV systems
- Working knowledge of common software applications for word
processing, multi-media presentations, and collaboration.
- Effective interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work
with people.
- Self-motivated.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both orally and in
writing with both technical and non-technical persons who use
classroom and presentation equipment.
- Ability to work on various projects at any one time, rapidly
respond to and solve problems as they come up, and complete an
assigned task on time.
- Avixa CTS Certification. If not a current CTS holder, it will
be required within 6 months of hire.
- Demonstrated experience fostering a diverse and inclusive
environment and an expressed commitment to do so while at VCU
- Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a
related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience with training users of multimedia AV classroom
systems.
- Knowledge of video and audio network transmission such as video
conferencing, video streaming, and lecture capture.
- Experience installing AV systems in a professional environment
held to AV industry standards.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting ethernet
communication network devices and cable terminations.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting Crestron Digital
Media, and control systems.
- Experience configuring Audio Digital Signal Processors (DSPs)
and audio over ethernet systems such as Dante.
- Experience with reporting, asset management, work effort
documentation, and data collection/management
- Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a
related field or equivalent experience.
