Job Description

The Department of Mathematics at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach campus, invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Data Science, starting Fall 2023.

The Department of Mathematics provides the mathematical foundation for Embry-Riddle’s various degree programs. The Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Computational Mathematics with a track in Data Sciences and another track in Engineering Application. The Department also offers an interdisciplinary Masters in Data Science (MSDS) with multiple tracks that integrate the strengths of the other degree programs within ERAU. The hallmark of the degree programs, in the Department of Mathematics, is the industrial connection of the curricula that aims to prepare students for a rewarding industrial career. The tasks of the new hires will be to teach courses towards the graduate program in Data Science (such as Data Visualization, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Data Mining…) as well as the undergraduate Computational Mathematics classes, to mentor graduate students and undergraduate seniors on their research and capstone projects and to conduct research in Data Science.

Excellence in teaching is our priority and one of our department’s primary goals is to contribute to the success of our students and the growth of our student population. All tenure-track candidates in the Department of Mathematics are expected to be productive in research and scholarly production, an ideal candidate would have demonstrated experience of interdisciplinary research with focus on data driven scientific and engineering applications.

The candidate must hold Ph.D. Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, or a related field (by the time of appointment) and have some teaching experience.

The research within the Department of Mathematics has been growing steadily in a variety of research areas while focusing on teaching excellence along with a strong emphasis on project-based learning. In keeping with Embry-Riddle's hands-on approach to a broad range of disciplines, the Department of Mathematics emphasizes research in areas such as applied and computational mathematics, high-performance computing, financial mathematics, applications of data sciences, machine learning, deep neural network, cybersecurity, etc.
