Job Description

The Counseling Center is part of the recently defined MU Student Health and Well-Being unit, which includes the Counseling Center, Student Health Center, and Wellness Resource Center. The Center is an APA-accredited doctoral internship site and serves a multiculturally diverse and international student community. The Counseling Center focuses on multicultural competence, affirmation and inclusive excellence, and the staff seeks like-minded professionals to join a team engaged in the efforts to enhance campus services to better support all students.

Reporting to the Director of the Counseling Center, this position serves an essential role as a direct mental health service provider with a special focus on underrepresented students experiencing racial trauma. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the impact that inequality, prejudice, and marginalization can have on students of color and have the skills and experience in therapy to address this impact. Additionally, this position requires strong, generalist clinical skills to assess and intervene with a wide range of presenting student concerns within a time-limited treatment model. Finally, given the current need for remote access, experience providing telehealth is also desired.

Job Description:
Responsibilities include providing brief, individual therapy to university students in a remote context and completing associated paperwork in a timely manner.

The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal and written skills; a well-articulated approach to time-limited therapy; the ability to network with remote colleagues and other campus offices/entities; and a commitment to the importance of a developmental perspective of counseling services.

Salary

$23.51 per hour - $40.62 per hour depending on education, licensure and work experience

Shift

This position is available for 2022/2023 academic year; specific start date is be negotiable.

Part-time, hours per week are negotiable but must fall between 8 and 5, Monday through Friday

Minimum Qualifications

A Master’s degree in counseling or social work is necessary.

Must be currently licensed (not provisionally) as an independent practitioner in the state of Missouri.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates demonstrating a track-record of providing evidence-based, culturally-informed brief therapy pertaining to racial trauma specific to the college population are preferred.

Experience providing telehealth is also preferred.
