Position Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for research and evaluation-related activities to support Dr. Castro's research. The position may offer scholarly opportunities to attend professional conferences, deliver conference presentations, and co-author manuscripts for publication. This is primarily a remote position though may include some in-person work and/or meetings. Available to work up to 20 hours per week
Tasks will include (but are not limited to):
-Work with research/evaluation teams to assist with implementing mixed-methods research (e.g. survey data, interviews, focus groups)
-Assist with quantitative and qualitative data collection and database management-recruitment of participants
-Assist with instrument development
-Build online surveys using digital platforms (e.g. Survey Monkey, REDCap, Google Forms)
-Conduct literature reviews
-Scheduling and conducting interviews and assessments with children and/or adults
-Attending weekly project team meetings
-Complete CITI training and follow Institutional Review Board (IRB) guidelines as required.
-Conduct data analysis (with training) and data entry, data organization, management of references
Required Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in education, research, psychology or a related field.
-Detail-oriented and strong time management skills.
-Interest in research and evaluation processes and best practices.
-Strong organizational skills (time management, note-taking, etc)
-Strong verbal communication skills
-Available to work 20 hours per week (Fall 2022/Spring 2023); Position can be renewed for Summer 2023, if interested
-Excellent organizational, oral/written communication, and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to establish priorities and to handle multiple responsibilities/tasks.
-Strong writing and editing skills.
-Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft office, Google Drive).
-Experience with a variety of data analysis techniques using quantitative and qualitative data.
-Able to work independently and ask for help when needed.
-Demonstrated commitment to working in and fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace environment.
-Ability to telework.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Advanced degree in education, research, psychology or a related field.
-Knowledge of SPSS and/or other advanced statistical software.
-Understanding of VA statewide education-related policies and practices (PreK-12 level and/or
higher education); including teacher workforce and diversity/equity/inclusion
-Experience designing, directing, and conducting significant research
-Local to Richmond, VA
Salary Range: $18 - $22 - Depending on experience
