Chair of Pediatric Dentistry
Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking applicants for a tenure eligible position as Chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry. The Chair of Pediatric Dentistry will provide leadership for the educational, scholarship, patient care, and service mission of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and the School of Dentistry. The chair is responsible for interfacing with the VCU Health System (VCUHS), the Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine, and the Children’s Hospital or Richmond at VCU (CHoR) to support the teaching and clinical services mission of the department and school.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a dental degree (DDS/DMD or equivalent) and Certificate in Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, eligible for licensure as a dentist in Virginia, and previous experience in an academic or hospital environment. Board certification by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and an advanced degree beyond the dental degree is preferred. Education and or experience in one or more of the following areas of pediatric dentistry are preferred:
o Cleft lip and palate and other craniofacial defects
o Specials needs children o Interceptive orthodontics
o Sedation and/or anesthesia
o Hospital dentistry
o Private dental practice
o Public health dentistry
o Community base-clinical service
o School based-programs
Demonstrate experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU is required. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to contribute to and participate in a humanistic environment of learning. The candidate will be required to have a well-developed scholarly/research portfolio with evidence of multi-disciplinary applications.
