General Practice
Description of Duties:
Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Dentistry is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position, term appointment, in the Department of General Practice Dentistry. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include didactic and clinical teaching pre-doctoral students in the areas of evidenced based patient care, practice management and running highly productive practices. This position may lead to assignment as a Practice Group Leader or assignment as a course director. Faculty members are expected to teach in an integrated curriculum system that includes baccalaureate, graduate, and post-graduate education. Teaching across traditional departmental lines and in multidisciplinary teams is required. Faculty members are expected to foster transformative learning that is informed by interdisciplinary and translational research, scholarship, and creative expression.
Qualifications:
• DDS or DMD Degree
• Eligible for a dental license in Virginia
• Strong leadership skills
• Expansive dental clinic experience
• Expertise in dental practice management
• Ability to teach practice management through clinical and didactic experiences to pre-doctoral students and general practice post-doctoral residents
• Must have the desire to mentor future dental practitioners.
• Demonstrate the ability to adapt to change and embrace modern technology
• Candidates must demonstrate the ability to contribute to, and participate in, a humanistic environment of learning
• Candidates must demonstrate the ability, or acquire and develop such ability, to incorporate adult learning theory, evidence-based oral health care, innovation in student learning, and critical thinking
• Demonstrate experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
