The College of Health Professions invites candidates to apply for a position as a core faculty member in the Department of Occupational Therapy. We are seeking two colleagues to lead and collaborate in scholarship, teaching, participate in service to the department, the university, and to contribute to leadership in the profession of occupational therapy.
Position Responsibilities:
- Scholarship:
- Faculty member will engage in scholarly activity to enhance knowledge in occupational therapy, including designing and conducting scholarly studies, which may include acquisition of grant funding and overseeing of research projects. They are also expected to disseminate research findings via scholarly writing and publication to advance the knowledge base of the profession of occupational therapy.
- Teaching:
- Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in the OTD program consistent with areas of knowledge and skill and department need. Teaching responsibilities also include student advisement and research and/or capstone mentor.
- Service:
- Faculty member will serve on the departmental, college, and/or university committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g., reviewer, conference organizer.
- Earned doctorate (PhD for those on a tenure line)
- licensure or eligibility for licensure as an occupational therapist in Virginia
- Junior faculty members will be required to have an established research agenda and a clear potential for external funding that complement and expand existing expertise in the department.
- Senior faculty members will be required to have a well-developed scholarly/research portfolio with evidence of multi-disciplinary applications and external funding appropriate to complement and expand existing expertise in the department.
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse environment for faculty, staff, and students and a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
- Teaching experience at the graduate level.
- Record of external funding.
- Background and experience in research, clinical practice, and teaching in adult rehabilitation, older adults, cancer, psychosocial, theory, or occupational justice.
