Position Responsibilities:
VCU seeks to advance knowledge and student success. The Department of Nurse Anesthesia seeks a qualified person to coordinate and teach simulation -based labs in basic and advanced airway management, US-guided vascular access, anesthesia equipment setup and induction of general anesthesia for students at the Roanoke program site. The instructor will provide mentorship and advising to students about their performance in clinical practicum courses and in completion of their doctoral project proposals. The Adjunct Professor will have strong teaching and communication skills; and content expertise in clinical training nurse anesthesia. The Adjunct Professor will work under the direction of the course coordinator and will be expected to develop and use established syllabi for clinical practicum events.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to develop and deliver doctoral coursework that meets the curriculum requirements of the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA)
- Doctoral degree
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in Virginia
- Current certification or recertification as a CRNA from the National Board for Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists.
- Experience in clinical instruction of nurse anesthesia graduate students
- Experience in simulation-based instruction of nurse anesthesia graduate students
- Demonstrates critical thinking and organizational skills
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse
faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do as a
faculty member at VCU.
- Experience counseling and mentoring nurse anesthesia graduate students.
- Didactic instruction of nurse anesthesia graduate students.
