Position Summary:

Are you seeking a dynamic academic position that is focused teaching future health care leaders? If you are, take a look at a new opportunity in the College of Health Professions PhD in Health Related Sciences program. We are seeking an adjunct instructor for our ALHP 761. Health Related Sciences Research Design. 3 Hours. This course covers the design of experimental and quasi-experimental studies in the health-care field. Emphasizes issues related to measurement, validity of designs, sampling and data collection. Focuses on the logic of causal inference, including formulation of testable hypotheses, and the design, methods and measures that facilitate research.

This position is aligned with the missions of the college and university focusing on providing optimal student experiences and learning opportunities as we support the next generation of healthcare leaders.

Required Qualifications:
  • PhD or terminal degree that included a dissertation in statistics, research and evaluation, or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as an employee at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience instructing in a hybrid format
  • Experience teaching at the doctoral level
  • Experience in CANVAS

Note, the PhD program is a hybrid program with the Spring semester running from the beginning of January through the end of June. A course consists of 4-8 hours of in-person instruction during the January session, five online sessions (each lasting two weeks and rotated with the other courses) and 4-8 hours of in person instruction at the end of June.

This teaching position requires instructors to travel to the campus in Richmond, VA twice per year. Travel and housing are not provided at this time and is the responsibility of the instructor if they live outside of Richmond.


Salary Range: $7,500
