Assistant Professor of Sport Analytics



The Department of Sport Management at Rice University is now accepting applications to fill multiple tenure-track positions to assist in further developing the department’s Sport Analytics major.

The appointments will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor and will begin on July 1, 2023. The primary focus of these faculty members will be the field of sport analytics – both the performance side and the business side. Candidates should be proficient in statistics and data science including modeling, statistical learning, and statistical computing such as R, Python, Tableau, SQL, Excel, or other comparable computational and data scraping platforms.

The Assistant Professor will teach undergraduate courses and perform research in their specialized area. Therefore, successful candidates will have a promising research agenda and strong analytical and empirical skills as well as aspire to the highest standards of scholarship, professional activity, and a commitment to undergraduate education. Candidates must have a Ph.D. (or complete the Ph.D. by July 1, 2023) in either Sport Management, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or another related field.

The search committee will begin reviewing applications October 31, 2022 and will continue until the positions are filled.
