The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) is currently recruiting for an Associate Director of Career Success in our Office of Academic and Career Success within the department of Student and Academic Services.
The Associate Director supports the achievements of student educational goals through three main thrusts: by providing career counseling to enrolled undergraduate students, graduate students, and limited alumni, by providing career development services in concert with UMB’s central services, and by advocating for and promoting employer relations in conjunction with our clinical placement partners.

- Provide career advising services to all enrolled students and limited alumni.
- Develop and implement career services programming across all academic levels.
- Develop contacts and relationships with various employers to cultivate and expand employment opportunities for School of Nursing students.
- Create, implement, and oversee programs and events to foster career readiness in students to include, but not limited to, recruiting practices, professionalism, job search techniques, self-presentation and networking skills.
- Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting of career service metrics. Track outreach and successful outcomes.
- Plan and implement initiatives to help generate career pathway opportunities, increase student engagement, expand working relationships with employers and increase the office’s offerings and resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - External
Education: Bachelor's degree. Juris Doctorate or Master's degree in social work, counseling, student affairs, or related field preferred.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in career services, academic or student affairs, or related experience. Prior experience in higher education is preferred.
Supervisory Experience: Two (2) years of experience at a management or leadership level.
Other: Clery act designated job as campus security authorities (CSA) member and will comply with Clery Act requirements. A willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of current and emerging theories and trends in the field of career development and employee/employer relations. Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently. Ability to demonstrate, understand, apply, and adhere to the UMB Core Values of Respect and Integrity, Well-being and Sustainability, Equity and Justice, and Innovation and Discovery.
Hiring Range: Low to mid $80,000s; commensurate with education and experience.
