Overview
The Site Protection & Emergency Services Training Unit Coordinator will identify and monitor training needs; design, plan, implement, and evaluate training programs; as well as develop plans and procedures to fulfill those needs. Training programs will include security, fire and EMS operations for an emergency response unit as well as the general laboratory population. Responsibilities
Core Duties:
- Analyzes training needs; identifies gaps and opportunities and recommends courses of action to leadership.
- Reviews existing training programs; suggests enhancements and modifications to improve engagement, learning, and retention.
- Ensures that training materials and programs are current, accurate, and effective.
- Maintains knowledge of methods and techniques for training.
- Conducts, facilitates, or assists with training sessions.
- Collaborates with vendors and third-party training providers to arrange employee registration for and participation in outside training programs.
- Ensures that training milestones and goals are met and documented appropriately.
- Work with the Division of Fire Safety and Department of Health, as necessary, to ensure we are adhering to certification requirements.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- AS/BS with concentration in training and development, human resources management, organizational development, education, or related field.
- Minimum three years’ experience managing training programs or three years' experience as a trainer, training facilitator, or instructional designer.
- Experience analyzing training needs, designing training, developing training instructor/student materials, implementing, and evaluating training programs (outsources and in-house); mapping development plans for teams and individuals; and maintaining training records.
- Experienced examining federal, state, local, contractual requirements, and industry best-practices.
- Experience conducting and documenting job analyses/job task analyses and connecting their results to training plans.
- Experience with various training methods, including classroom delivery, on-the-job training, web-based training, and mentorship.
- Experience working with Subject Matter Experts to develop and deliver training.
- Knowledge of instructional design and implementation, learning management systems, and web delivery.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Verbal and written communication.
- Collaboration.
- Critical thinking.
- Basic graphic design ability.
- Knowledge of security, firefighting, Hazmat, and/or emergency medical services, preferred.
- Working knowledge of Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS).
- SHRM, ATD, ISPI, or CPTM, preferred.
- ICS 200, preferred.
- NJSP Methods of Instruction, Fire Instructor Level 1, HSEEP, preferred.
- Emergency Services Related Certifications/Licenses, preferred.
