Description

The Lin Lab in the Institute of NanoBiotechnology & Materials Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University has multiple openings for postdoctoral researchers. Our research involves the development of genetically encoded molecular tools for cell biology and neuroscience. Especially, the openings here are about the development of in-cellulo protein assemblies that can either serve as actuators to mechanically perturb membrane/organelles or record the cellular signaling events. The laboratory is well funded by NIH NIGMS for the next five years.

Principal Investigator:

The PI, Dr. Dingchang Lin is a tenure-track Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University. He obtained his B.S. from Tsinghua University in 2013 (with distinction) and Ph.D. from Stanford University in 2018. He did his postdoctoral training at Harvard University from 2018 to 2022, where he pioneered (1) in-cellulo protein ticker tapes for neural recording; and (2) ultraflexible neural probes for chronic electrophysiological recording of the same neurons. By far, Dr. Lin has made significant scientific contributions, with ~60 publications and 18 first-/corresponding-author publications, a total citation of over 19,000 times, and an H-index of 50. As the first/corresponding authors, he has published articles in high-impact journals including Nature Biotechnology, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Chemistry, Nature Communications, PNAS, JACS, Advanced Materials, and Nano Letters. Dr. Lin has been recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher since 2019 (Web of Science), and has received awards including but not limited to NIH NIGMS MIRA Award (2022), Harvard Brain Science Initiative Young Scientist Transitions Award (2021), Materials Research Society (MRS) Graduate Student Award (2018), and Ross, N. Tucker Memorial Award (2017)
