Job Description
This position will play a role in the Office of the Executive Vice Provost supporting degree management functions primarily related to the State Council of Higher Education in Virginia (SCHEV). The Associate Director of SCHEV Compliance position will support the development of documents for approval by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV). These proposals will include but not be limited to degree and certificate program proposals and organizational change proposals.
The position will assist faculty and staff in developing, editing, refining and finalizing proposal documents in preparation for internal processes and submission to SCHEV. The position will also be responsible for maintaining knowledge of internal and external academic and organizational change policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
• A master's degree in education, higher education, curriculum and instruction, or related area earned from a regionally accredited institution; other degree areas may be considered in conjunction with significant years of successful experience conducting academic program planning, assessment, development, and implementation
• Understanding of degree program development, including curriculum design, learning outcomes assessment, resources needed to initiate and sustain a program, and research-based justification for new degree programs
• Ability to guide faculty and administrative staff in preparing documents that adhere to institutional and state policies
• Excellent professional research, writing and editing skills, and the ability to write for a variety of academic and non-academic audiences
• Superior project management and organizational skills, with demonstrated experience delivering projects on established timelines in the context of multiple competing priorities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering positive interactions in a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Terminal degree
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully within the university community to implement necessary changes for academic programs
• Experience working with regional accrediting organizations and/or state regulatory entities such as the State Council for Higher Education in Virginia (SCHEV)
• Experience as a faculty or staff member in an academic unit at a public college or university
