Director of Sarcoidosis Program (3-309-1130). The University of Maryland School of Medicine’s Department of Medicine is seeking to hire a Director for our newly launched Sarcoidosis Program. Primarily the position will be responsible for the development of the strategy and plan to develop a state of the art program on sarcoidosis. The position will collaborate closely with the Chair of the Department of Medicine and the Divisions of Pulmonary and Critical care, Cardiology and Infectious Diseases as well as other cross-functional groups at University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Essential functions of the position include:
  • Provide strategic direction for the multi-disciplinary program, to include establishing goals, objectives and implementation plans for both the Sarcoidosis program and as a senior Dean’s Office leader in faculty affairs.

  • Partner with the the recently formed Center for Advanced Research Training and Innovation to expand the mentoring and training opportunities for physician faculty.

  • Collaborate on DEI program development with the existing faculty leaders in SOM Faculty Affairs

  • Expand diagnostic capabilities for sarcoidosis and implement novel immunomodulatory therapeutics

  • Train new generation physician scientists in advancing management of sarcoidosis

  • Support outreach programs that allow screening and linkage to care of sarcoidosis patients

  • Support strategic alignment of the coexisting program teams within the School of Medicine

  • Lead the management of overall Sarcoidosis program performance and quality improvement.

  • Support the development of research agenda, study protocols, and outcomes analysis for sarcoidosis

  • Seek new grant development for training, and advancing new strategies for linkage, diagnosis, and inter-disciplinry management of sarcoidosis

For the right candidate, this position may also include an administrative component as Associate/SeniorAssociate Dean, Faculty Affairs. Reporting directly to the Dean of the School of Medicine or the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, this position will be responsible for program development for tenure track faculty which enhance diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives for faculty.

  • Support strategic alignment of the coexisting program teams within the School of Medicine

  • Partner with UMB community initiatives and lead SOM based initiatives.

Qualifications :

Applicants must hold a MD/DO degree and have experience in the field of Sarcoidosis and and be eligible to obtain an independent license to practice Medicine in the State of Maryland. NIH grants, as well as population health, pulomonary or infectious diseases training (with appropriate board certification) are highly desired.

Expected faculty rank for this position is Professor, however, final rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.
