The part-time Student Employment Office (SEO) serves thousands of students in Harvard’s academic programs and employers. The coordinator serves as an expert on student employment matters and supports administrators across the university. Additionally, this position manages the Faculty Aide Program, which awards grants to students to conduct research with faculty.

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of work experience. Education beyond high school may count toward experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high-level of customer service to diverse populations.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize work in in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaborate with colleagues.
  • Ability to handle complex and confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience with coordinating and supporting program operations and events helpful.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, collaboration tools, databases, and other systems.
  • Prior financial aid or student employment experience helpful.

Position Description
  • With the Assistant Director for Student Employment, coordinates the university-wide Faculty Aide Program (FAP). Duties include discussing eligibility, vetting applicants, managing the FAP database, and hiring and managing the payroll for students of off-campus Harvard faculty.
  • Serves as the front-line staff member for SEO questions from current students, employers, and university colleagues.
  • With the Manager of the Federal Work Study Program, manages the Harvard Student Jobs Database, including vetting and approving job postings.
  • Assists in the coordination, staffing, and development of the campus-wide Job Fair, as well as events during National Student Employment Week.

  • This role is part-time (17.5 hours per week).
  • Work is typically performed in an office setting, but may be hybrid, as directed by FAS.
