Academic Systems Analyst



PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Reporting tothe District Director - Continuing Education and Customized Training , the Academic Systems Analyst-Destiny One supports the implementation and maintenance of Modern Campus Destiny One system, CCC’s continuing education enrollment system, working in close coordination with system vendor, Office of Information Technology (IT), continuing education staff, and key administrators.

The Academic Systems Analyst-Destiny One develops business processes and functiona l requirements to support the configuration, set-up, and continued system maintenance to ensure CCC’s operational needs are met; tests and documents modules within Destiny One and related systems to provide users with a seamless search and enrollment experience; and monitors the system to ensure the accuracy of student records, continuing education course schedules, and related program data. Performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Provides technical expertise and oversight of projects relating to the updating and maintenance of Destiny One, ensuring applications developed and processes created return predictable and accurate results in support of CCC’s policies and goals.
  • Works with users/business partners in determining the feasibility of requests, defining business needs and deliverables, and developing solutions to meet data and reporting needs and requirements.
  • Leads and participates on projects relating to new systems or upgrading of existing systems including system testing and validation for enhancements and customizations of academic systems.
  • Provides troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue resolution for Destiny One and ensures the integrity of student records.
  • Performs systems analysis (including evaluation/testing of system updates), requiring evaluation, design, development, testing, implementation, documentation, research, and data analysis.
  • Leads/consults on the development and execution of testing related activities to diagnose, test, and solve problems or find improvements.
  • Ensures program accuracy of the catalog of courses, program statuses/colleges, and program completion requirements in Destiny One.
  • Align system processes with CCC policy and procedures.
  • Work with OIT to ensure term configuration is accurate and aligns with PeopleSoft information and other necessary system integrations.
  • Maintains and updates a variety of data tables and ensures appropriate and correct data is maintained in reporting databases used in District-wide analysis and decision making.
  • Applies knowledge of systems, policies, and business processes and data flow to improve data quality and reports, enhance current measures, and to develop solutions to new measurement needs.
  • Analyzes and evaluates curriculum changes and changes in programs to configure and maintain the accuracy and reliability of public facing Destiny One course pages.
  • Ensures that all necessary approvals and documentation are obtained and on file for all updates and corrections.
  • Provides recommendations to improve the functionality of Destiny One and other related systems(s), in alignment with policy and business processes.
  • Provides training and guides on best practices and processes within Destiny One based on user roles.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology or related field and one year of technical experience in systems administration or the support of networks and systems; OR
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college in Information Technology or a directly related field and three years of technical experience in systems administration or the support of networks and/or systems
  • Experience working in a higher education environment preferred
  • Knowledge and familiarity with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions 9 or Modern Campus Destiny One highly desirable
  • Understanding of student records (registrar, enrollment management), academic program requirements, student services, and/or academic advising required
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relational databases
  • Experience capturing and modeling/mapping business requirements and working with business partners to assure delivery of quality solutions highly desirable.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.

QUALIFICATIONS
