Overview:

The healthcare studies department at Salem State University is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member beginning Fall 2023. Teaching assignments will vary based upon the expertise of the candidate and programmatic needs, but may include internship/field work coordinator duties, career focused courses, academic and professional writing, introductory research courses, diversity and cultural inclusiveness. The ideal candidate will work as a collaborative faculty member committed to academic excellence, innovation and student success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, scholarship and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.

Required Qualifications: 

An earned doctorate degree (or ABD with significant progress can be considered) in a healthcare related field; experience in and demonstrated enthusiasm to full time teaching, internships and field experiences, research, advising, and mentoring of students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles; and experience in and demonstrated ability to work with a team and collaborate across disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications:

An area of expertise that includes health care information and information systems, health insurance, managed care, practical (field-based) health administration experience, experience working with community-based health organizations or public health; preferred candidates will have demonstrated interest and experience with internship/field work coordination; interest in civic learning and civic engagement pedagogies; experience in and enthusiasm for teaching in a multi-racial, multi-ethnic environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning style; and experience using instructional technologies, teaching face-to-face, hybrid (partially online), and remote classes and academic advising.
