Job Summary
Facilities Management at the University of Colorado encourages applications for the Irrigation Technician position! During the growing season this position will seek to improve irrigation systems by monitoring, trouble shooting and repairing existing systems. This role will also assist with snow removal or irrigation system improvement projects.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Perform Irrigation, Maintenance, & Installation on Campus Irrigation System
- Perform walk-throughs as efficiently as possible for inspection on irrigation system to ensure proper head performance and coverage.
- Repair heads, valves, wiring, controllers, lateral pipe and mainline as needed.
- Participate in irrigation system improvement projects as needed.
- Conduct cleaning of debris at the headgates of the Anderson and Smith Goss ditches to maintain proper flow for pond replenishment.
- Assist with chart recording and digital meter readings to help with the accounting of amounts of water used through the ditches and pump stations.
- Remove snow and ice from streets, parking lots, sidewalks and curbs.
- Apply sand/salt or Anti-icing chemical mixture using various equipment.
- Schedule and request vehicle maintenance with campus motor pool to perform minor maintenance on Facilities Management vehicles and equipment, and coordinate as appropriate with outdoor services mechanic for other equipment repair.
- Maintain a constant supply of vehicle stock material for irrigation repairs as necessary.
- Enforce the safety guidelines and policies built by Human Resources, Facilities Management Safety Committee, the Outdoor Services safety group, and industry standard processes.
- Being an essential services position, employee may have to respond to after hour’s emergency issues related to snow/ice removal, pump station, irrigation mainline, sprinkler zones, ditches, Lynx irrigation computer, radio communication system, or other job related situations.
- Perform additional miscellaneous grounds duties when needed. Some examples may be: branch pick up after a storm, grounds support for graduation that might include- running a blower, placing mulch in beds, running a string trimmer, etc.
- This position is eligible for our Facilities Management Employee Referral Program.
- All University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to follow the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement .
- New employees must provide proof of vaccination or receive a medical or religious exemption within 30 days of employment.
- Please be aware that this position is considered essential services.
- This position will work 5 eight-hour days per week, between the hours of 6:00 am and 5:00 pm, based on staffing requirements of the Department. The work week for this position will be Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday based on the staffing requirements of the Department.
The salary for this position is $44,904 annually.

What We Require
- One year of landscape maintenance or related work experience.
- Must be a Colorado resident to apply.
- Must have a valid Colorado driver's license.
The ability to work independently and in a team setting.
What We Would Like You To Have
Previous experience with irrigation system inspection, maintenance & repair.
